Success Stories in Special Education

Ray

Ray was an ordinary nine year old, kind of high strong with a very inquisitive mind. However, when it came to school he struggled. Unfocused and always seemed to forget homework assignments.

Ray takes Ritalin for his ADD. However, even though he improved in school, by the end of the day, he would always forget homework. No amount of discipline or incentive seemed to work.

The creative solution that worked for Ray was so simple it is amazing. His mom and teacher swapped email addresses. It was written into his IEP.

Once a week Ray’s teacher emails his mom a list of missing assignments, which Ray is permitted to make up over the weekend. Success!

Ray’s ADD was accommodated in the classroom without embarrassment or penalty for his handicap.

A real win-win and success story to allow Ray time to organize for better grades.
